Cubase IC Pro might seem high priced for an app, but there is more to it than meets the eye, making it well worth the cost in my opinion. Although it works great as a remote transport control as you would expect, the hands-on multi-touch mixer operation does an amazing job of replacing a hardware mixing controller (even ones with motorized faders, which would obviously cost much more), and is way better than mixing with a mouse (or any other pointing device), particularly as you can move several faders at once if desired, exactly as can be done on a real mixer!
The split level view on the iPad screen will display choosable combinations of "key commands" (should just be called commands); the project overview and the mixer. The app gets its data directly from your Cubase project, so the mixer channels are labeled and laid out the same way, including automated fader positions, and the project overview mirrors your project. I have an expensive hardware digital mixing console, but I found this app to be an even better and quicker experience for performing mixing automation.
The project overview section is there for visual feedback only, as there is nothing you can do other than set locators (although there is no snap function). Still, this seems adequate and visually useful for the purposes of this app. The commands section is extensive, with several preset collections available, as well as allowing you to create your own set of commands. Although the selection is extensive, not every command is possible. For example, transport commands for changing recording modes are not present.
Unlike other reviewers, I havent experienced any reliability issues, and Ive used this app on three different systems. For me, this app has become an essential and extensively used app, which makes it an excellent value. Highly recommended, especially for the mixer control functions.
